Community guidelines

Short version: be real, be kind, and take no means no. Everyone on Haanji agrees to these.

Be here for something real

Haanji is strictly for adults 18 and over looking for a serious relationship, from long-term dating to marriage. No hookups, solicitation or selling. Hookup or explicit messages can't be sent, and trying gets an account banned.

Introduce yourself properly

A haanji comes with a real introduction: a few sentences about who you are, what you're looking for and why the other person caught your eye. "Hey" on its own can't be sent. Respect people's time, and they'll respect yours.

Be yourself

  • One profile per person, using your own recent photos
  • No catfishing, fake profiles or misleading details. You can't misrepresent yourself under any circumstances
  • Be honest about your situation, including your life stage
  • Family can help, but only with your permission, and never by pretending to be you

Respect a no

  • Pass, decline or end an introduction without explaining. Nobody owes anyone a reason.
  • Never contact someone again after they decline, end or block. Not here, not elsewhere.
  • Never ask anyone for photos. Asking can't be sent here; photos are only shared through each person's own settings
  • Never pressure anyone for contact details or to move to another app
  • You're never obligated to keep talking. Ending a chat takes one tap and never counts against you
  • Nobody owes anyone an explanation, but please answer every haanji, even with "Not for me". Ignoring people adds up to missed replies, and three turn matching off

No discrimination

Everyone is welcome regardless of faith, background or which Punjab their family is from. Caste or biradari demands in your profile or messages, slurs, and stereotyping aren't allowed. If community matters to you, use the private question in your profile instead.

Keep each other safe

  • No requests for money, gifts, bank details or visa help
  • No sharing other members' details, photos or screenshots
  • Video calls follow the same rules as chat: be respectful, keep it appropriate, and never record or screenshot the other person
  • Report anything that feels wrong. You'll never get in trouble for reporting in good faith.

What happens if someone breaks these

Depending on what happened, a moderator can warn, suspend, or permanently ban and delete the account. Harassment, threats, explicit messages, scams, fake profiles and anyone under 18 mean a permanent ban with no appeal.
